  • I'm So...

Bored this morning.  Work has been slow-ish this week (and part of last).  So I'm working on some really boring projects that have been sitting on my tasks list for sometime.  And I know why they just sat there for so long.  Can you say tedious much?

As you know, Cinco de Mayo came and went.  I consumed nary a margarita, taco, nor [insert festive Mexican fare here].  It got me wondering, is there a difference in the gusto with which we celebrate certain non-holidays?

For instance, I stand firmly in the camp that St. Patty's Day should be deemed a national holiday.  No, I am not even a skosh Irish.  When it comes to Cinco de Mayo, I could take it or leave it (although I do have a mad craving hangover--not to be confused with a hangover craving--[or should I say holdover?] for some festive fare).  It has always been that way for me.  Is this because I can stomach whisky better than tequila?  Is it because I consume whisky with more regularity than tequila, save for the occasional margarita?

My real theory is that usually my Spring Break fell in March during both college and law school, leaving me ample ready, willing ability to be festive.  Whereas May found me still hard at work in college and in the final push of final exams in law school (thus, no time to make a big deal of it).

To those die-hards who go all out for both non-holidays I pose to you the following: how do the two non-holidays compare?

  • Haha, though there were no margaritas for me on Cinco de Mayo (but plenty on Tres de Mayo), but I absolutely insisted on Mexican food for lunch just because I am such a Mexican food lover.

You are a better woman than I.  I am a tequila over whisky girl all the way.    I actually go out more often during Cinco de Mayo versus St. Patty's day.  And I'm not sure why since I presumably had the same school schedule as you.  I guess it's because the weather is always getting nicer in Mya which super makes me want to go out, sit outdoors and DRINK!  Plus, my most memorable Cinco de Mayo in law school, I think we had either just finished classes or finals that day and we went out and partied like rockstars.  so I guess maybe our school ended finals earlier?  Hm...I dunno.
